  5. Private Doctor and Prescription...

You can rely on Slough pharmacy for providing private doctor and prescription service. Our highly experienced GP (general practitioner) offers a wide range of medical consultations and treatments for you and your near ones. Our GP works closely with our specialist consultants to make sure that you get the best and most effective care for your health conditions.

Private prescriptions are not paid for by NHS

A private prescription is never paid for by the NHS as it is not written on an official NHS prescription. A prescription is a legal document for which the medical practitioner, who has issued and signed it, is fully responsible. A doctor you see privately doesn’t have the authority to issue an NHS prescription. The cost of a private prescription will be met wholly by you and will include the cost of the medicine our charge for supplying it. Our fee for issuing patients with a private prescription is very nominal.

Prescription of medicines by your NHS GP following assessment or treatment by a private doctor

Whenever a GP prescribes a medication for you they are taking complete responsibility even if the medication has been recommended for you by another doctor. So, don’t expect that your NHS GP will always prescribe the medicines recommended by the private doctor you consulted.

You can without any hesitance contact our Private GP for:

  • Healthcare checks
  • Baby checks and immunizations
  • Acute and sudden illnesses
  • General Paediatrics
  • Childhood vaccines
  • Chronic illness management
  • Dermatological concerns and skin tag removal
  • Sexual health and checks for men
  • HPV Vaccinations
  • Mood and psychological concerns
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Private prescriptions
  • Private referrals
  • Medical certificates

Apart from the consultation with the GP, your appointment will also include if needed;

  • writing a private prescription
  • providing a referral to a Consultant
  • referring for scans or X-rays and mention of other tests that may be needed.

You will be given an outcome letter detailing all of this and a copy will be forwarded to your NHS GP.

Cost of any further investigations which you may need during or after your appointment, such as scans, ECGs, blood tests etc is not included in the cost of your appointment. Before any such tests are conducted the GP will discuss with you why they believe these tests should be undertaken and the costs associated with them.
