What is the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service?

At Slough Pharmacy, we are excited to provide the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service, which offers you easy access to a variety of contraceptive options. Our mission is to empower you with the information and support necessary to make informed decisions about your reproductive health.

The NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service enables individuals to obtain oral contraceptives directly from registered pharmacies, eliminating the need for a GP prescription. This service is designed to improve accessibility and offer a more convenient solution for those seeking reliable contraceptive care.

How Does the Service Work?

When you come to our pharmacy, our team will begin by asking a few initial questions to better understand your needs. You will then have a private consultation with a pharmacist in a designated consultation room, ensuring your comfort and confidentiality. During this meeting, the pharmacist will enquire about your health history and circumstances to identify the most appropriate contraceptive options for you.

As part of the assessment process, you may have your blood pressure checked and your Body Mass Index (BMI) measured by a member of our team. Using this information, our pharmacists will offer tailored advice and, when suitable, provide you with the oral contraception that aligns with your needs.

If a pharmacist is not available during your visit, our team will gladly arrange an appointment for you to return at a time that works best for you. We are dedicated to providing you with the care and support you deserve.

Your Safety and Wellbeing

The safety and wellbeing of every patient is our highest priority. Our pharmacists at Slough Pharmacy follow established NHS safeguarding protocols. Where appropriate, our team may need to ask additional questions or make confidential referrals in line with NHS guidance and Fraser Guidelines.

This service is available to all eligible patients. You do not need to be registered with a GP to access NHS contraception at our Slough pharmacy. If you have any concerns about your own safety or the safety of someone you know, please speak to our team in confidence.

All consultations are conducted privately in our dedicated consultation room at 10 Upton Lea Parade, Wexham Road, Slough.
